getting back in the swing of things...back on the bandwagon....back to the norm....getting into the groove.....going around in circles

basically going back to doing things the way you are used to doing them or going back to doing something you had taken a break from or doing something repetitive, mundane.

Ex: My vacation was relaxing but now it is time to get back on the marry go round.

it means getting up after you've fallen/been knocked down. Like when you were a child and you fell off the merry-go-round, you cried for a minute and then got back on.

To me, it means to go back to a way of life that is only spinning around in one direction (like a carousel), always moving, but going nowhere. I'd rather "get back on the horse" and make my own path.
