Enroll him in a Marial Arts Class for kids. My three year old nephew is in it and he can't stop talking about it. If you feel he's too young for that, enroll him in some other from of class like mommy and me or something along that line.

Get him involved in an activity where there are other kids around his age. Ballroom dance is an excellent activity. Not only will he learn discipline, but he will get in excellent physical condition and he will meet a lot of really nice people. There are a lot of kids involved in ballroom dance. Also, learning to dance is a skill he will have for the rest of his life. He can dance when he's young and he can still be on the dance floor having fun and enjoying life when he's 100 years old! Ballroom dance comes in handy in a lot of different situations too. And it will give him self confidence.

Read aloud to him twice a day......let him pick a book then you pick one. Find books that he may relate to, and books that you would like him to learn. Discuss the story and little and allow him to answer questions that you make about the story. Start with simple questions about what color? Who did what..? Then much later, when he is talking more, ask open ended questions (ones that don't elicit a yes or no or a two or three word answer): what do you think will happen to.....? How did that make this character feel about....? Spend lots of time reading aloud!!!

In order for him to be talkative you must talk to him! And in plain language, not baby talk. Most children like to be read to so read to him. Spend a lot of time with him playing and teaching him. As for the healthy part, well, make sure he is fed right! (good healthy food) and be sure to take him for regular checkups and has all his shots!! Last but not least, Pray!

When he is ready he will. My son had his own form of sign language until about 1 1/2 yrs. Now he never sits still and never stops talking. All in good time.

Just love him and devote as much time as possible to him--both of you. And make up his inability of comnunication by constantly taling to him,if nothing then nonsense will do. Let others also handle and talk to him.It will slowly sink intoo his growing brain that this is the way to behave with people .

Healthy - eat lots of veggies and if he doesn't drink milk, supplement with peanut butter or eggs, other dairy if he/she's not allergic. Take son to playground. If he's toilet trained, enroll him in nursery school. My nephew was really shy but once he got into nursery school he just opened up and got to build his social skills fast.

Find a local library and go to Storytime
Enroll him in a play group
Read, Read, Read to him
Find books on games for your sons age and play with him
Take him to the local park as often as you can/ want

Give it time.......... one day he will just take off and you won't be able to keep up. With age comes knowledge.

Good Luck!!!

Talk to him CONSTANTLY. For now it doesn't even matter what you say but reading is great and if sitting down with him to read isn't convenient, just constantly tell him what you are doing - like if your washing dishes, describe it all to him.
By the way, when mine were little, we would fall asleep by talking about everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) we did that day - with lots of details.
