ok,they are not holes at all,just small round donut balls,so why do they call them donut holes?

Originally, they were the bits of dough punched out of the middle when making doughnuts.

They started out by being the small piece they cut out of the middle of the donut so it would fry without a soggy middle. The donut holes got fried and caught on as a snack so now, people make and eat just the holes.

Cause they make them out of the material that is cut out when the donut hole is created. you are just asking a stupid question, right? You already knew the answer, right? right?
