My neighbor is an illegal. He works two jobs and both of his kids are straight A students, but it bothers me that he is an illegal. Every month he is sending our US money back to his country. If he got hurt he could walk into a hospital and use our systems without paying. It's not fair. Bill O'Reilly says that because he is an illegal, he might be a terrorist. I looked up the number for INS and want to call it, but his wife has been taking care of my ailing mother and I really need the help with her. I'm afraid they'll both get deported and I won't have some to take care of my mom for free.

Looks like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Hmmm....should you turn him in thereby ruining his family's life or keep your trap shut so you can exploit their situation? Maybe you should try to do something morally correct and help them out? You could see if there were a way for you to sponsor their citizenship.
I lived in Mexico for a while. They are wonderful, helpful, hardworking people that want the same for their families as you do for yours...a good life, freedom from oppression and an education for their children. And I think it is the same in all countries. I don't think we should open our borders but I do think that we should do something about the illegals in our country right now. If they are contributing to the economy and are not involved in criminal activities then we should keep'em. The rest go home and others stay home.

Just because they're illegal DOES NOT mean they are a terrorist. Try not to generalize like that. But he probably has a very good reason. How much do you know about his family back home? Maybe he has a mother with severe health impairments and he couldn't afford to care for her in his own country. Wouldn't you want to do anything you could to take care of YOUR mother? Chances are that he's just a decent guy trying to make a good living. And I think after living in the U.S. for 7 years, illegal or not, you can become a citizen and live legally in the country. And since he's working 2 jobs, he's obviously contributing to society. So don't be too quick to judge him.

There are SO MAY illegals in the country and I think you are going to need proof. They are not going to come pick up every single one of them. Personally, they seem to be helping your famiy too. I realize that they don't pay taxes -- it's because they can't file and it's obviously not to easy for them to become legal. They are not the only ones going to the ER and not being able to pay. MANY MANY legal Americans do not have health insurance nor the means to pay for high medical bills. I recently ran into an elderly couple - the husband had a triple bypass with no insurance (prior to them getting Medicare) and they have to pay for that on a very limited income and still survive. So, it's not JUST them. Illegals have been coming to this country for years and years but now all of a sudden they are terrorists? I know we need to be cautious - no doubt about that but why weren't we cautious before? There have been terrorist groups out to get us for years and years and years and the government KNOWS this. I've known this from learning (prior to 9/11) and it took them to follow-thru for us to take notice. Now EVERYONE is a terrorist? I don't think so. I think we need to show some compassion in this regard to human life as well. Yet, I do understand the dilemma of both sides of the issue unfortunately. I don't think there is one straight answer to make all happy but I personally would not turn them in if they aren't hurting you and that sure doesn't seem to be the case. Sounds like their kids could grow up to be legal US residents and possibly give more to our country than some of our own, doesn't it? I am not putting our kids down - but there are some.

No, its none of your business. Shame on you too for thinking only about the free care of your mother. If you suspect they are terrorists what are you doing leaving them to look after your mother in the first place? Sounds to me like you are jealous of their success. Maybe you should talk to them and find out about their background. Could be that they are from a very poor or wartorn country and have family who desperately need the money. Even if he is an immigrant, at least he works hard and is not sponging off the government for benefits.

If you had not been USING these people's kindness, I would say call and report them. I am sure many illegals are nice people, but what they are doing is wrong. Stop using these people, you are as bad, if not more so, as they are. But, it is not right that you would use them and then betray them. Take care of your own mom, cheapskate. She birthed you, cared for you, loved you, fed you- the least you can do is return the favor. Be wary, someone may call your illegal friends in and they may be deported anyway. You are a user.

Of course this is a strong topic to approach. You have to be the one to decide whether your mother's care is more important than your feeling about illegal immigrants.

Take the time out to realize he isn't scheming us Americans. He is working two jobs and obviously instilling proper values in his children, as they have very high grades.

Personally, I would say think about what you would do in that situation and what courtesy you would expect and/or want. Try not to play border patrol and have a little more heart for somewhat dishonest people making an honest living.

No because he not doing anything wrong. Bill O'Reilly is just a idiot. My parent aren't terrorist and your neighbor aren't terrorist too. All the he is doing is just working hard to support his family and send some money to take care his parents. The children will be separated and be palace in the system to find them home. Just don't do it because I think you know that it would be the wrong thing to do.

No
I feel the same way-I have see those who can not get help. They do not qualify. And yes many foreigners come before us due to benefits that a foreigner qualify for. It had a purpose. The problem is we do not have the extra point for that because we were born here. It should be fair-you are so right.
But unless they are asking you to break the law or lie-it is no reason to hurt them because you hurt.

The woman who are answering on here are unbelieveable.

"show compassion!"

it's too hard to show compassion considering SO many crime are perpetrated by illegals and they're a drain on an already failing american system. When a family member gets hurt by an illegal or they squat on your land and wont leave, then people will realize even more how ridiculous the situation is.

WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE WORD "ILLEGAL"

it means: NOT LEGAL.

wow, just another example of a greedy, lazy American. why aren't u taking care of ur own ailing mother, or better yet paying an American to take care of her- after all she is YOUR responsibility. sounds like the only reason u won't turn them in is because u worry about ur own personal interests & advantages first. This is the type of Americanism that has gotten us in this situation in the first place. Stop being sinical.
