Yes, especially if you are bathing your dog often (every week or 2)
I would use a good quality dog conditioner. I think alot of pet stores sell Bio Groom and Lambert Kay products...those are pretty good products. Stay away from Hartz and anything cheap...they are usually crap...you get what you pay for.
Or, just go to your groomer...most sell the products they use in the salon.
Show Season, Espree, Les Poochs, Kelco, Natures Specialties..those are just a few brands that are pretty good...usually sold by groomers.

there are dog shampoos on the market that already have conditioner in them.. There are even dog shampoos with an oatmeal blend to help condition. I don't think that I would use human conditioners on a dog for two reasons, 1 it can really irritate their skin and 2 if you didn't rinse it well and the dog were to lick it they could get sick. If you are truly having a problem with the condition of your dogs fur, you could try home remedies for humans. Mayonnaise, olive oil, avocado and many others have been listed to improve human hair. No matter what you use - don't forget to rinse WELL!

I use Mane and Tail horse shampoo AND conditioner on my dogs, long and short hair. I live in a dry climate and the conditioner helps keep their skin moist and itch-free.

you need to find the right shampoo and conditioner. Don't reach for the same brands you use. Pet shampoos are formulated specifically for dogs, and human shampoos can cause irritation.

Many pet shampoos have a conditioner built right in. With pet-specific shampoos the ph level should be designed for your pet. We use Oxyfresh Pet Shampoo.

try a doggie shampoo/conditioner that has oatmeal in it. Great for dry skin/hair, plus it smells pretty good. You can find it at any pet store/ wal-mart etc. I can't remember the name of it, but found it at petsmart, was only 4 dollars.

No. Do not use conditioner on dogs. It is totally unnecessary. I use puppy shampoo on my shih tzu puppy and baby shampoo on my golden retriever.
