Cracking your back by yourself is'nt bad unless your forcing it to pop or crack. It should be preformed by a professional. By cracking or popping your joints you are releasing air from the joints and that is good. A chiropractor has studied the joints and knows which way he or she can manipulate the joints without damaging them.

It depends HOW you crack it. You CAN hurt you're back if you have somebody crack you're back for you and move you're spine the wrong way. I know how nice it can feel to crack joints, just be careful. Especially in you're hands. It's been proven that those that crack their knuckles excessively are more prone to arthritis (it doesn't mean it CAUSES arthritis or anything, it's just a statistic that you probably want to avoid if you can).

I actually heard a study that said it was good to crack your joints, that it helped cut back on your chances of getting arthritis.... now if i could only find the study again!

I hear it's bad, since cracking your joints feels good now, it can lead to arthritis later on. I know since I have back problems since a child, they told me never to go to a chiropracter.

Neither good nor bad, really. Cracking joints sometimes helps loosen up tension.

I don't think it is bad, you are right...it feels good and that is exactly what the chiropractor is doing.

According to my chiropractor, does not hurt. You see a chiro because he has been trained and he also will take Xrays, etc.
