My mother has an old US green card, but she has not lived in the US for more than 30 years... I have a tourist/business visa... Could my mother's green card help me to get a residence permit in the US?

IF your mother was out of the US w/ her Green Card for six months or more, she losses her permanent resident status. she can either try to fight to get it back by hiring an attorney but your mother's "expired" green card can not do anything for you!. Sorry

no way. first of all she would have to live in the united states to petition for you to get a green card. once she tries to come back to the united states, an inspector wil turn her back because she abandoned her residence 30 years ago

It won't be of use to you. Your mom already abandoned her greencard and inorder to enter the US she has to apply for a tourist Visa or be sponsored by an employer if she wants to work here again. That means she starts from scratch.

I don't think so. Go to www.uscis.gov for more info on immigration and resident cards.

I highly doubt it because it pertains to your mother and not you.

Call immigration and ask them.
