I always felt I'm in the minority for not believing in a higher being. From your question I guess I am not alone.
Feel bad for these people, I think it's wonderful to have that kind of faith. When we have faith, there is always hope. Take care and continue your beliefs.

Well, dear, not everyone believes as you do.
Myself? I'm a Deist. I believe in some kind of creator (Nature, God, whatever). I believe in evolution, big bang, etc.
Did Jesus live? Yes. Was he divine? I doubt that.
You see, I'm a lover of history. If you look far enough back you can see the origins of Judaism in other religions (Babylonian, Egyptian, etc.) and you can see the origins of Christianity (Zorastranism, etc.).
It's hard for me to swallow the literal story of Noah when it is predated by the Epic of Gilgamesh.

Belief systems, such as the Christian and Islamic religions are created to control people. They do this by using fear and guilt as a means to manipulate the followers. Governments often piggy-back onto the religious bandwagon because they can use the self righteous authoritarian belief systems for their own gains, e.g. to justify killing and war, among other things.

Why do people keep asking these same questions?
I've been to sunday school. I've sat in church. I've asked questions, and the only answer I was given was "read the scriptures, and have faith". Not good enough in my opinion. I need more than a self-proving theory. Haven't heard one good explanation yet about how dinosaurs fit into the bible. not to mention Neanderthal and Cromagnon man. We know they existed. We have their skeletons. Where are they in the bible? If god made man in his image, than he must look like Neanderthal man. A lot of people don't like to think about that.
Then, I've looked and watched the other "christians" , and how they acted both in church and when not, and how hypocritical they were. How they'd praise "him" for them trivial things like winning some award, but have foul mouthes and treat their children like crap. I said to myself 'self, if that's what this turns you into, I want nothing to do with it.'

I don't believe in god for the same reason I don't believe in Krishna or Zues. Some people don't believe in God because they believe in Dianetics instead. The more i read about religion, the more upset i get that anyone still "believes" in it. The more you dig into any religion's history it starts to contradict itself and you can start easily blowing holes into it without even trying.

Because those who refuse to acknowledge God do so because they do not want to be held accountable for their life's choices and decisions. They refuse to answer to a higher authority. They want to do whatever is right in their own eyes, not caring about the consequence's.

People who don't believe are probably just as perplexed about why you DO believe. It all comes down to faith. You either have it or don't. As for those who make fun of your beliefs, they are just being inconsiderate so don't mind them.
