My greatest suggestion is because I tried to kill myself numerous times... is be there for them.... Anti-depression pills are not good for them... even though people say it is.... what your friend needs is to know that you really care.... and that they can turn to you.... just know that 99% of all suicides are people who act very odd and over happy... this means they will probably kill themselfs that day.... just BE THERE ok....

#1. Be careful with anti-depressants, sometimes that can make it worse. Like Zoloft.

But anyway, even without insurance, a lot of places might still take her (if she's WILLING to get the help) because it's just cruel to not help someone in her condition. Some psychiatrists might help her out of good concsious and let her pay them back later. Call places and ask if they are willing to take someone without insurance (and you don't NEED insurance for services, it just helps cover some of the costs. They will let you pay full price if you don't have any and it shouldn't be THAT much).

Best of luck!!!!

Non-profit community groups like the YWCA and Share Family Services offer free group and private councilling or can direct your friend to someone who offers this service. Many hopsitals and universities also offer free group and private councilling. She should also get the book "Feeling Good" by David M. Burns. It is an excellent resource for people suffering depression.

In the meantime, loving friends like you are her main source of help. Be there for her, help her out and listen to her problems without trying to "fix" them. Just talking about what is bothing her will be helpful.

suicide hotlines can help other then that try a health department. most health departments will see her for free if she tells them she is not working and has no source of income u are right she needs meds for it. i am sure that there is some place where you live that will offer help with meds at a low cost like here in the part of NC where i live there is a place called Helping Hands and they help people get meds they can't afford anything pretty much other then narcotics.

Antidepressant's WILL NOT HELP i know lots of people who go on them and they end up worse.Your friend needs to find a way to pick herself up again.she needs to talk about whats upsetting her and and set herself targets to try and motivate herself.eating healthy and exercise is a cure i believe for depression it releases all the happy hormones and makes you feel good about yourself.maybe you should join up a yoga class together and try ang get her to talk.if not i advise you to be there for her like you are and get her some councelling and stay away from anti-depresents.xx

Call your local suicide hotline and they will be able to help you out. Otherwise go to a local cllinic that provides free services, a lot of time it is done in confidentiality too.

She can still go help. Youre a good friend. I would keep this a secret. If you do it will be too late. Trust me on this one. Continue being there for her.

I'd call a crisis helpline and tell them the situation I am sure they can help you. It all differs from state to state what help their is...that's why I am suggesting the helpline.
