Google Earth is probably the most useful. But to see current up to date images you should try a nasa web page.

No. This capability is limited to governmental spy organizations.

If you are looking for an image of, say, the Southeast US, then weather images from NOAA satellites will do, but these are not live.

Download Google Earth. It is pretty close to a satellite image of any place on earth.
