I recently saw a question on Answers that I found insulting to my religion, so I said some nasty things about the religions of other people who had posted those comments.

Is it Okay to do that?

Does anger give me the license to cast aspersion on other religions' prophets?

And, as long as I am not burning images or passing death warrants or doing any thing destructive, how justified is my anger?
Like God doesn't carewhat is said about him/ her. Why should I fight for him/her/it? Certainly, I am no prophet or angel. And God doesn't need to be protected either.

My purpose there was, I believe, simply to hurt someones feelings, and to tell them that there are vicious rumours about their religions as well.
You don't hurt me, I don't hurt you.

I accept it was a flawed approach, but really, how else could I actually make people see that I was seeing red when I saw their comments?

After seeing Mrs Ram's answer, I don't feel apologetic after all.

Like she says somethings outrageously and viciously false, and then says I need to be better informed!

And what's all this about me floundering in dark, and not being well-informed. Me not informed! That's strange coming from someone who asked such an idiotic question. Most (read : all)Hindus are of Indian origin. And so they can never be white supremacist KKK.

: "Force, the principal instrument of Christian propagandism in the past, is still the force behind our missions. ....We force missionaries upon China, for example, under treaty clauses extorted by war, and pledge ourselves to support them with gunboats and to exact enormous penalties for the lives of such as get themselves killed." It would be the same in India, did not Hindu tolerance (apart from 'India held by the sword') make it needless; but even Hindu tolerance may some day be overstrained. If it be intolerance to force one's way into the house of another, it by no means necessarily follows that it would be intolerance on the owner's part to drive out the intruder."

--Lafcadio Hearn (1850-1904) Greek journalist, who moved to Japan and lived there.

The question was nasty enough and that first reply aded insult to an injury. I think you were well within your right to hit back. He provoked us knowing that the question is itself bullshit.

I , myself do not go out of the way to hurt any faith. But Such questioners and answerers have made me retaliate sometimes.

I avoided it earlier on YA. But then I realised untill you answer back strongly , and they know we can do that, they will not even slow down.

autumnshadz, there is a difference between pointing out truth and making up lies.

mrs ram have no idea about the real facts. I do not know whar her extended family is. But it certaily have no in depth knowlege about Hinduism.

Her views are of a superficial knowledge and exagerated comments. I gave her links which totally debate the caste system as well as related links and details. She is just into herself. She is the one trying to sweep the truth under the rug.

Her question started with a flawed argument and with no intention of disscussing it. She has not even cheked out counter arguments.

Christians and Muslims have darkest history and slavery problems. I did not see her asking why people follow these religion at all. Hinduism has richest philosophies and a matured belief system of a well constructe society.

I do not care what her history is. That is no excuse to spread hate based on false propoganda.

We do live in country that supports both free speech and freedom of religion. Being so, each religion is going to get bashed once in a while. EVERY religion. But that's America. Land of the free. Atheists can say what they want, as long they aren't encouraging violent acts on people, and the same goes to theists to.

I mean, the KKK has their own website. There isn't much we can do about the promotion of hate. It's going to happen. The least people could do is ignore the message, but pay attention to the words. Again, I will say it:

AS LONG AS A PERSON IS NOT INCITING VIOLENT ACTS, THEY ARE FULLY PROTECTED UNDER THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.

Funny that Muslims forgive you but abstain from commenting on the answerer who provoked you.

As for Mrs Ram , nobody is saying she is a racist.

We are saying that her sources and comments are biased and false. Twisting the truth and exaggerating things is a fraud.

She is making an accusation based on limited knowledge and biased sourses ;and is not even ready to see the counter arguments.

The argument that why would anybody follow Hinduism is flawed. She is typically unaware of rich philosophies and depths of Hinduism. She forgot that Hitler was a shining example of Christianity, conviniently.

Theory of Hindu race is of wetern origin itself. Indian ancient sources do not support it.

"This question was intended as with any religion including my own to "Question"".

now what do that supposed to mean? I do not see there is any wider issue mentioned in it??

Oh lord, Just like I guessed. You insulted Islam. The ironic thing is you said "I find people believe anything and everything they are told. This is such a vicious rumor. " and that's what you're guilty of. If you have enough faith and knowledge that it was a false rumor, you could've just cleared things up for everyone. I appreciated you clearing it up, but as a Muslim I didn't appreciate the comments that followed it.
Anyways, you seem like a decent person and it takes a big person to acknowledge his mistake let alone say sorry.
I forgive you : )

Hi, Shrek, I understand how u feel, I have seen many communities misinterpreting hinduism and also insulting it...

I used to become very frustated about it too..

But nower days I am at peace with my self..

The watch word of hinduism is "satyam eva jayate" (truth alone triumphs)...

"truth stands on itself" vedanta says..
we need not protect the truth, it holds on its own. Let people think whatever they want to, but ultimately truth is truth...

I really understand your frustration..but I think you should not have said what u said about other religions..A hindu understands that all religions lead to the same god..and each religion is great..

I think you dont know the life story of mohammed...If you did, you would not have said what you said..If u cant respect other religions then you are not qualified to be called a hindu..

The Idea of equality of all religions...where do you find it most practical? It is in Hinduism that we preach that all religions are equal and valid paths to god..

It is true truth doesnt need our protection, at the same time it doesnt mean that we should let people say whatever they want to say...I think you should have just given the examples and tried to explain in decent words , the situation..

Truth alone triumphs...if truth is not their concern then let them belive whatever they want.....

This gives me a lot of peace..this sentence "satyam eva jayate"
which our great motherland has, on its emblem...

So follow the truth, know that truth cant be hidden, and truth will come out,..and it certainly doesnt need our help..

my question was not in anyway intended to be racist ,if you knew my family or where i come from you would not make stupid assumptions.

This question was intended as with any religion including my own to "Question"

Many times Hindus including my own extended family may hold on to belief systems because their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents followed it.

I hope that you could come out of your narrow-minded views and try and do more research you would be surprised . Facts are sometimes hidden, taken for granted or swept under the rug.

Atheists can and do consider in all varieties of matters. The simplest factor all atheists have in typical despite the fact that is the disbelief in god(s). To reply your fundamental query, "Oh my god" is a determine of speech. Why do you assert Tuesday? Are you calling upon the god Thor?

You don't want people to say things about your religion but you think it's okay for you to do? You have to set an example. Stop being a hypocrite.
