I have recently (1 month ago) gotten a tattoo. It seamed to have healed fine, like all the others I've gotten. But just suddenly 1 1/2 weeks ago the purple color (only) has had a rash, all over the color. All the other colors are fine but the purple parts are all rashed out. What could this be and how can it be treated?

Some people are allergic to certain colors... usually reds. Try a over the counter cream, like hydrocortisone. If this doesnt work, I hate to say it.. but it may need to be removed.

All different colors of ink are made differently. I think you may be having an allergic reaction to something in the purple ink. Not to worry! Just have it checked out at your local ER or see a dermatologist. You ma want to check out the tattoo parlour where you got it and write down the name of the company that provided the ink. It's possible you are not the only one who is allergic to it. The tattoo artist may be able to provide you with answers as well.

Mine done the same way with red.I was using neosporin & that was the main problem. After a month or so it cleared up but some of the red had faded a little. Just keep an eye on it,try a different saive on it & make sure to tell the people who done it that you're having a problem with the purple, which happens to be my favorite color. Good luck.

Wash it carefully in cold water, gently applying antibacterial soap with fingers (never use a cloth) to surface area. Rinse with cold water, pat dry with a clean towel, and air-dry for 15 minutes. Then, gently and sparingly apply a thin layer of antibacterial ointment . Repeat 3 or 4 times a day for 7 to 10 days.
Do not apply Vaseline, lanolin or petroleum based products.
Do not apply alcohol.
Do not rub, scratch or pick at the tattoo. If it doesn't seem to be healing go to your own tattoo artist for instructions related to the aftercare.

Seems a little late for an infection to start (2.5 weeks after getting the tattoo) but to be safe, you should go back in to the person that tattoo'd you and talk to them about it---- they will look at it and make the proper recommendation, assuming that you got it from a credible tattoo parlor that is. If not, go see your doc.
