First of all you have to be a law enforcement officer. Undercover agents are usually awarded the rank of detective before being an undercover agent. Prove yourself as a law enforcement officer and you may get to be a detective or undercover agent. College is required by many law enforcement departments and if you are talking on a federal level it is much harder to get involved. On a personal level undercover agents are usually good talkers, good actors, and very personable. An undercover agent is always looking for information and what better way to get it then to be able to sweet talk it from people.
