The reason we have it is because people think of eating contests as an entertainment, and as a county fair game and at that point people never even think about the starving children and maybe don't care at that point.

I dont think an extra 100 hot dogs will make a difference. By the way, every country in the world has enough food to feed all of its own people, its problems of distribution and infrastructure- mainly caused by corruption and civil war- that lead to starvation. So people eating as much as they want in the Western World has no impact on the starving folks in the 3rd world.

Becuase we are a culture that is raised on self interest. Im sure that children in the world are starving but we cannot help directly and thats an unfortunate problem. Perhapps people should become more aware.

Children are not starving because we have eating contest. It's usuall because of their government policys. Mnay countrys won't even let US in to help. It's not our fault.

Beacuse people just need to make money. they dont have any ideas anymore and they came up with food contest, people on this side of the world rarely think about whats going on at the other side of the world.

You might also ask why we have track races when there are crippled children in the world or why we celebrate birthdays when there are children dying. It's noble to help ease the suffering of others. It's sad and foolish to belittle the joy of others.
