"Thank you" implies that someone has just done you a favor. If they have just done you a favor, then yes, thank them.
If you have both had a good time, then I don't think a "thank you" is in order. More appropriate would be "Awesome, that was great eh?" Unfortunately, this opens you up to rejection if it was not great for them.
Now, if someone has clearly gone the extra mile for you... and given you a little bonus, then sure a little thanks may be in order. But I would feel weird with a "thank you" when both of us have benefitted equally.

I'd have to say that's a big NO. From experience, once a guy thanked me after wards. I didn't know what to say. It was just bizarre. Made me feel cheap.
"Damn, baby that was awesome" or something along those lines seems a little more appropriate.
"Thank You" seems a little impersonal for such a personal act.

If you paid for it, yes.
But seriously, who says "Thank you" after sex? Unless they just gave you a ******* or something, you have no reason to "thank" them...both people are pleasured during sex, unless someone sucks at it (pardon the pun). It's more appropriate to say...Most anything else, really. Like, "That was amazing..." or something. Or if you love the person, "I love you." is appropriate.
In a nutshell, "Thank you" is a no-no.

You don't need to say thank you to express gratitude.
Gratitude actually refers to acceptance, and has nothing to do with feeling in debt.
Accepting what you were given and sharing a good feeling is the best way to thank someone.
Think of it from the other side. Do you need to be verbally thanked for something you shared?
Whatever your answer is, that's the answer for your question.

I understand what you mean i don't think "thank you" should be used "unless it's a hooker", but try "you were amazing" or "that was awesome" it still show's you had a great time but doesn't sound like a "service" was performed!

I don't think thats appropriate because both parties are benefiting from it. You say thank u to whores not the person you are in a relationship with. Or someone who is a booty call then you can say thanks.

It might seem a little odd to your partner, but it's not "wrong". Most ppl probably just snuggle... My husband says "I love you" after, but everyone is different.
