Can there be another reason why my 8 month kitten (5-6 lbs) has pink
nipples than being pregnant?

It does not mean she is pregnant, possible but still young. As a females first heat nears they can go through many changes like nipple color or enlargement. Even temperament.

Really, I feel awful for you. If you still have the strength to look for her, I suggest you go out at night with a flashlight and look in small places where the kitten can hide. Cats are nocturnal and more likely to be awake at night Not knowing what happened is awful. My grown cat was lost for 4 days and I went around at night like a lunatic calling his name and making the sounds that he was familiar with. Anyone who saw me and thought I was crazy, I asked if they had seen my cat. Everyone said they would call me if they saw him. i was very lucky that he came home one night at midnight crying and very hungry. there is the chance that someone took the kitten for him/herself. I did that one time when a kitten hopped like a bunny out of the tall grass and made chirping sounds. So it may have happened again. Putting up signs is a good idea.

possibly getting close to going in heat. Or it could be as simple as color changing as an adult. You NEED to spay your cat. We don't need ANY more cats in this world. Every day THOUSANDs of kittens and cats are put down due to overpopulation.

Take her to the vet.

Take her to a dermatologist, she may be alergic to where she is sleeping, her flea medication, her food or any number of things. Fair skinned animals are more likey to exhibit allergies than dark skinned animals.

She's the kitty version of an adolescent- which means she's going to be doing a bit more growing. You should have her spayed ASAP, though.

It probably means you should stop playing with her nipples. Get a girlfriend.

No different than why humans voices change, we grow hair in areas, etc.

Maturing into an adult.
