50 Billion

"Astronomers think that there are at least several billion galaxies in the universe. The exact number is not known. The estimate of how many galaxies there are in the universe is done by counting how many galaxies we can see in a small area of the sky. This number is then used to guess how many galaxies there are in the entire sky."

I was going to say the same thing but I did a little research to make sure.

There are 110 major known galaxies in the Universe today. While the Universe is still expanding, however, there will be many more still to come and keep in mind many have still yet to be discovered. I hope this information helps.

The scale of the universe is so vast, that the answer may not be knowable. If Stephen Hawking is correct ( ie the Universe has no beginning and no end ), and given that stars are always being created, perhaps the answer tommorrow will be different than the answer today! In short, ATLEAST 125 Billion.....but bear in mind that our telescopes can only look so far outward into the universe. Also, as you look further out into the universe...you are actually looking backward in time!
