YES! It would be rude to enter an elevator while talking on your cell. Really, do you want the whole world to listen in on you?
I personally would not want to hear your conversation. Plus some people are very loud when they talk.
I would answer the cell. (A phone ringing many times and/or loudly in an enclosed place?) Then I would quietly tell the person that I would call them right back as soon as possible.
Thank you for asking.

Most elevator rides are short, so if you do end up speaking on the phone, it will be a brief experience for the people in the elevator with you. I think it would be polite to speak softly and not discuss personal or possibly offensive matters while in the elevator.
If it rings while in the elevator, you might hit ignore to turn off the ring and call the person back, or quickly answer and tell the person you'll call them back.

Cell phone use is going the way of smoking in public. NO one wants to be around you when your talking on the phone. Im sure any call can wait for the short time a person in is a public area. Nothing is that important. If you want to keep talking.....just wait for the next elevator. The public will thank you. Lets keep noise polution to a minimum. As for answering a ringing cell phone....mute it and call them back when you can. Please.

Yeah. It is rude. It is rude to talk on your cell phone in any crowded/tight area with other people nearby. No one wants to listen to your convo; you don't want them listening to yours. I can see that answering while on an elevator would be a little better, since you didn't enter the elevator with the intention of annoying everyone else.

I think it depends how full the elevator is. if it is tight then I would refrain from talking on the phone, otherwise if there are maybe 1 or 2 more people in there, then I would politely ask if they minded. If they say sure then it's fine, but you have to be conscious that there are other people their and that it is their ride too, as stupid as that sounds, it can get annoying if you have to listen to a person on the phone and they are talking loudly and you have to stand right next to them.

It is rude, and if your phone rings don't answer it you can call back later. Has the world really gotten that busy, I think not. Most people are just so uncomfortable with them selves around others that they feel the need to be on the phone all the time.

If you have any kind of reception while in the elevator then you're fine, as long as you don't talk to loud... nobody wants to hear your conversation, especially if they are on their cell phone.
