Sweat glands normally are present throughout one's body. It is the body's natural method of 'cooling down' during times of exertion or excessive heat (high temperatures). If you only perspire (sweat) under your arms (armpits), it could mean that there is a problem in your body's ability to exude the salts, minerals, and water that is normally found in perspiration in other areas. It could may you prone to heat related stress disorders including heat stoke (which may be deadly). It is strongly advised that you seek appropriate medical attention to this condition. Until your appointment, avoid high stress activities that could require your body to cool down. Avoid places that are hot and dry, too. Use water, ice, or air conditioning whenever possible to reduce the body's need to adjust and 'cool down' by way of perspiring. An endocrinology specialist may be needed to diagnose and treat your condition...usually recommended by a general medical practicioner who is unable to treat the disorder.
Other metabolic conditions may exist to add additional concern as to this problem. For example, if you are unable to exercise due to potentially life threatening inability to perspire, then the muscles and underlying tissues may be undeveloped or underdeveloped thus the metabolism may be affected and hypo or hyper thyroidism could be the result of the chemical imbalance.
Use the site below to study perspiration and sweat related conditions:
Please schedule an appointment to speak to your doctor about this unusual condition. It sounds somewhat soft as a topic for complaint (if any nurse makes a joke about it...tell the doctor); however, it is not a normal condition and should be examined and treated. Counseling as to what to avoid in the way of circumstances that may affect you negatively and to avoid should be handled by the physician or nurse.
If anyone makes you feel humiliated or belittled by the hearing of the symptoms or concerns you have, tell an attorney. He will know who to report the professional misconduct to.

Sweating in your armpits is normal (depending on your age) because there are a lot of sweat glands there.
