Yes, the reason is primarily to determine who it is that they are arresting. There are plenty of fake ID's out there, and no shortage of people willing to lie to get out of a crime. Also thaose fingerprints can be used to have a record of your offenses and possibly connect you to other crimes.

You always get fingerprinted when you're arrested so they can look for a match in their database just in case you have a warrant for your arrest or if you're an already wanted felon.

yes i n most cases you are fingerprinted their are a few officers who slack off as with any job their are always a rotten one in the bunch

yes you do if they got the wrong person they check the finger prints and it is another way of keeping track on how many times you went to jail
