WAY too young! An ATV can be a powerful machine and shouldn't be driven by anyone under 16. And certainly not by an 8 year old alone in the woods.

Yeah that is to young, especially by herself!
What makes it worse is the WOODS!!!
That father sounds like an extreme version of "Tim the Tool Man Taylor on 'Home Improvement'"
I hope she can take a lot of pain, cause thats what it will lead to one day....actually I hope she doesn't have to face that kind of trauma.

This is the same guy that will blame everyone else when something bad happens to his daughter. She is too young. Will she be driving a car by 10?

You didn't say what size of a four wheeler it is. They make small ones for children ages eight and up. My daughter has one. But she should still have supervision while riding it.

To have a 4-wheeler.... no
To be unsupervised...... YES. That's asking for trouble.
By introducing her to such "grown-up" things, she can learn great responsibility. And, it makes great currency for misbehavior. But if there's no discipline, it's going to blow up in his face for sure. My husband was shooting shotguns since he was 5 years old. However, he was *always* supervised, and he had to learn and follow all the rules every time if he wanted to continue to shoot.

Yeah I think this is too young. I think that the mother needs to get involved here and put her foot down. ( she should also put it somewhere else while she is at it ).

Yes I do. I hate the things personally my dad broke his neck on one and my now ex-husband was paralyzed from riding one. I hope he is teaching her how to be safe on it, even if he is I hope she is careful
