I don't need a wysiwyg editor, I can code by hand, but like something like Homesite where you can use keyboard shortcuts to input some tags, and will also close your tags for you. Which one should I go with? I tried coffeecup and it was horrible. EditPlus is not freeware. Notepad is too tedious.

Personally I like dreamweaver but you gotta pay for it. You might want to try Coffeecup.

the program is freeware, which removes a serious barrier for those curious about Web design but wary about throwing down a lot of cash. Though this program lacks the variety of features and functionality of the commercial version of CoffeeCup's HTML editor, it can create fairly neat and functional personal Web pages. The program comes complete with a set of layout templates to help speed up project development. There's also the WYSIWYG editor. It is well-designed and easy to use, with drag-and-drop functionality.

here's a completely free version:

I have to agree and go with notepad/notepad++ if you're reall familiar with html coding since the program use minimum resources and its way faster to open/save/close notepad than the other programs.
