I am 14 and have already tried looking arround. My mom doesnt have a job and my 16 year old sister doesnt plan on trying to get one. We have my 8 yr old brother to take care of and my dad who previously supported the family will be in jail soon with no job to pay child support. I need some advice.

Try babysitting or Dog sitting. Doing Lawn Maintenance is a good one too.

The most you can do at 14 is babysit, or if you have a public pool in your area sometimes they offer life guard lessions and you can work there. Also try the YMCA or a summer camp for youths you maybe able to get a job as a camp counselor. But more than likely most of those are already taken but like i said before babysitting will probably be best. Advertise your services.

Your mom can try going to an unemployment office or to a staffing agency to get a job. Your sister can needs to take responsibilty and get a job (and your mother needs to put her foot down and make her get one). She can try looking at her school in the job center or going to the mall (every store needs summer help). As for you, there's not a lot you can do at 14, but you can try babysitting or helping some of your older neighbors be doing some of their chores for them. Good luck.

i am sorry to hear about that.. 14 is too young for you to get a job. Maybe your 16 year old sister has better chance. she should start working. Your Mom should look for job easier than any of you.

geez what a terrible position to be put in by your lazy mother, she needs to get off her a## and get a fricken job. It is NOT your responsilibily to support your mother or your siblings. Sure if you want to work, great. But you should not be supporting your entire family. Your mother should be reported to CSD.

A paper route and pet sitting are good ways to earn money if you're too young to work at a store.
