It all depends on what age you are. I got a cell phone when I got my license because I would be on the road alot going back and forth to school. I started out with one of the prepaid phones, because I didnt need to talk to my friends all the time. If I needed to talk to them, there's always the house phone. I had it so I could keep in touch with my mother when I was out and about. Then, when I was able to get a job, I was able to get a cell phone that came with a plan. I was able to keep it as long as I had a job.

Maybe if you started out with a pre-paid phone, where you could call each other if you were out with your friends, and not calling your friends all the time with it, she might help you in getting a different cell phone when you are able to secure a job.

However, if you are under 16, then I dont think you really need a cell phone, unless its just a pre-paid one that your mom can regulate and only buy you minutes if you are showing that you are responsible and not running the phone down every couple of days (or weeks for that matter).

It all does come down to money and responsibility. Try to ask her why she is saying no. If it is a money issue, offer up help from allowance or something. If it is the responsibility thing, try asking about a prepaid cell phone to show that you are able to follow the rules and be responsible enough. They are pretty cheap and can help you prove your point.

it took me a while to convince my parents that i needed a cellphone, and i didnt get one until my sophomore year so i was 15 years old. i kept reminding them that when i go out, how are they going to get a hold of me? i also reminded them that if im stranded somewhere and i have no ride, i will need a celllphone to call them for a ride. i also told them that it would be a great idea that i get a cellphone anytime they need to get a hold of me, where ever i am, whenever. but i promised them that when they call me, i will always pick up my phone. try that with your parents, im pretty sure it'll do the trick.

show her that you are mature enough for a phone do extra things you normally don't do. Sit down and tell her why you want a phone and talk about it don't get mad when she ask you questions about why you want a phone.

If you are under 16 you don't need one. If you are over 16 get a job and pay for it yourself.

show responsibility. there are pre-paid cell phones you can get - you could get yourself one of those and show how responsible you are in using it.
