Absolutely. There are times when the only way to achieve true peace is through war. It may seem contradictory, but take Hitler as an example. If the world had just tried to maintain peace, he would have taken over all of Europe. Now if peace meant looking past that, would it really be peace? I doubt millions of Jewish people would think so.

God said there would always be war and rumors of wars... and God gives us peace that passes all understanding. God does not support terrorists, nor evil dictators.
When Is It Right To Fight?
Romans 13:1-7
1. How do you explain human nature? Basically, there are two explanations that flow from two totally different world views. The non-biblical postmodern world view says that people are basically good. We are born good. Our inherent nature is basically good, but certain factors such as society, environment, oppression, or poverty causes us to do bad things that really are against our good nature.
2. On the other hand, the biblical world view says that people are basically sinful. We are all born with a propensity to do wrong, not right. Because of that, punishment and penalty, whether it be a spanking, incarceration, or even war is sometimes necessary to control our sinful nature and insure that righteousness and justice prevails in our culture and in our society.
3. Our focus is on the very concept of war. Depending upon which world view you take, war is either always evil and wrong or war is sometimes necessary in the course of human events for justice to prevail.
4. War is a subject that no one can get away from, because basically no one ever has. In 5600 years of recorded history there have only been 292 years of peace. In that 5600 years, 14,532 wars have been fought averaging 2.6 years each and 3,640,000,000 people have been killed. Out of 185 generations, only ten have seen unbroken peace despite the signing of 8,000 peace treaties.
5. If you hold to a postmodern view of human nature, then basically the problem is that every one of these 14,532 wars have been wrong. This view basically holds there is no war ever fought that discussion, deliberation and diplomacy could not have averted by simply appealing to the goodness of the human heart.
6. The biblical world view sees war very differently. In the Bible, 1400 years of recorded history are found and 313 wars are mentioned, so God does not leave us clueless as to what He thinks of war. There is a fascinating verse in I Chronicles that says this -
"For many fell slain, because the war was of God." (I Chronicles 5:22, NASB)
7. Is it possible that the God of love and the God of peace and the God of mercy could also be the God of war? Is it possible that the same book that says, "Blessed are the peacemakers" could also condone war in certain circumstances?
8. Let's establish two facts at the beginning.
* Moral people want peace
* Moral people hate war
That is true whether you are a Christian or a non-christian, whether you hold to a biblical world view or a non-biblical world view. No one in their right mind wants anything but peace and nobody in their right mind would love war.
9. The problem is... peace is simply not always possible.

Absolutely! If you can support the use of force to keep criminals at bay, then why can't you support the use of force to keep invaders out of your country. War can be offensive and defensive. Supporting the defensive role does not make you a war monger. The balance of power is the best way to deter war. Any aggression should be unacceptable. We under George Bush have become the aggressors. That is not right, however if we were invaded by a hostile force we would be justified in responding with the force necessary to preserve our community.

Yes, I am committed to peace, but fully support the war. I have a son fighting in Iraq now, and both of us are not the type of people who go out looking for a fight. In the bible are many instances of "war" being waged for the greater good, and to quash evil.

Yes, one can have peace while supporting war. Pray for peace and the war will come to an end. Pray for the men and women who serve our country for our freedom. Pray for those who ask them serve our country. Pray for there families whose child or other half is fighting our country. Prayers work.Prayers is the only thing that will stop wars.

there is what we call a just war. A war is just if it benefits the common good. I think the war currently going on is a just war, and it benefits the common good and thus peace. War is necessary sometimes, especially with terrorists, the only solution is combat.
