A psychosocial-psychoeducational group therapeutic intervention for recurrent suicide attempters is being developed which involves a combination of open discussion of the daily lived experience of individuals who have made repeated suicide attempts, and teaching new skills that can be used to "stay safe". The goal outcome of skill use, staying "safe", means avoiding making an attempt or engaging in behaviour that is harmful to the person. Participants in this program are taught skills which they can reasonably apply in their everyday lives, from "basic personal rights" to self-soothing, setting boundaries in interpersonal relationships, distraction tactics, problem solving strategies, and the idea that distress felt in the moment, no matter how unendurable, is not permanent but an experience that will pass. The goal of the program is to provide a supportive environment in which skill use is discussed each week, and successful skill use is consistently met with praise from other participants and the facilitators.

Real happiness and peace can be ONLY found in submitting to the commands of the Creator and the Sustainer of this world. God has said in the Qur’an: (Truly, in remembering God do hearts find rest.)
(Qur’an, 13:28)

On the other hand, the one who turns away from the Qur’an will have a life of hardship in this world. God has said:
(But whoever turns away from the Qur’an, he will have a hard life, and We will raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment.) (Qur’an, 20:124)
This may explain why some people commit suicide while they enjoy the material comfort money can buy. For example, look at Cat Stevens (now Yusuf Islam), formerly a famous pop singer who used to earn sometimes more than $150,000 a night. After he converted to Islam, he found true happiness and peace, which he had not found in material success.

Hopefully the drugs will start to take effect, and you will feel a bit better. I know that they take a LONG time to work, but eventually they should. If they do not work, then you need to ask for a different prescription.

When you get out of this horrible pit of depression, you will love life again. Please wait, and you will see. There IS a way out of depression -- through pills and therapy -- not through suicide.
I did it. You will, too!

In the meantime, check out my favorite site, Dr Ivans Depression Central. Many helpful ariticles, and you will see that you are not alone.
Try signing the guest book. I did, and someone else who is depressed contacted me. We have been friends for around 3 years now. It really helped both of us.

Suicidal ideation is a common feeling among those who feel depressed. Fortuantely, it is a rare few who actually go through with it. Find a mental health professional with whom you can talk this out. He/she can adjust medications and get you to the counselling you need. If you are really about to come unglued and need help now, call a suicide hot line in your area. Look in the phone book or if in a metro area call 411.

Killing yourself really does not solve anything. Leaving behind a family and friends who care for you would be devasating to them. Hang in there, it will get better.

Good luck and God Bless.

If you believe in GOD, then this is simple! If you think your life here is bad enough for that you have a real suprise coming if you think suicide is the answer!!!! If drugs help, fine, but I'd suggest finding some people that you can talk with that will listen to your problems and offer real suggestions, and really care about what your needs in life are!

Don't be afraid to seek help, there are many caring, non-judgmental people willing to listen and help.
I know that sometimes a person can feel like ending it all because they are very depressed and without hope, sometimes they don't even know why, the feeling just comes over them for no reason. I also know that after a little while they feel better, again sometimes for no reason at all they just start feeling better. The chemicals in our brains are very powerful and often a doctors prescribed medication can help.

I do believe you need to speak with your family physician - my husband suffers from depression and has been in the same situation as you. Ending your life is not the answer - help is available and the future will change.

Don't be afraid to ask for help - we are only human, after all, and I have yet to find one who is perfect. Living with ourselves takes a lot of energy and we all need assistance from time to time.

Suicide is not the answer. You have something to live for. If you think you might hurt yourself, then go get help. Your life has meaning just like everyone else.

This is a side effect of antidepressants! Please, run,not walk, to your Doc and tell him of these feelings! Perhaps he can give you something not so harsh or lower your dose some. Whatever you do don't try to quit cold turkey this will only make it worse! Ask your Doc to lower your dose or gradually wean you off this drug! Ask for counseling, you should't have to rely on drugs to be happy!

I think suicide is a selfish cowardly way to deal with a problem.

I'm sorry but there it is.

W/o talking about religion, who gets hurt most?

Your family and friends, and honestly, That's what kept me from doing more than merely contemplating it when my life was in the crapper.

If you try it to hurt them, your selfish, if you do it to run away from your problems your a selfish coward.
