Hell no! If it meant I could have 72 virgins, I'd hang myself right now.
Seriously though, we can all blame Human Rights Watch for the deaths of these men. It was HRW that insisted that the prisoners at Guantanamo had a right to privacy in their cells. They forced the military to give them curtains so that they couldn't be "spied on".
The terrorist know that the mainstream US media is on their side and will sensationalize any story they can use against the Bush administration and the U.S. military, so they kill themselves knowing that it will be a huge scandal.
I hope they rot in hell.

I don't feel sorry for them, but I'm not exactly jumping up and down in delight over it either. It's a sad thing.
The guys incarcerated at Gitmo know that things like that -- hunger strikes, suicides -- will play well into the hands of the US media, which is overwhelmingly against our military action in Iraq.
They know that they can score lots of "pity points" even with our own media by doing things like this. It's a tactic -- and they fully believe that they will go straight to Paradise by being willing to be part of this "tactic."

An Australian, David Hicks, is being held in Guantanamo. There is no hard evidence to keep him there. The authorities will not let him come home to be investigated here.
He is not doing very well and there is fear for his mental stability after the treatment he has received. The recent suicides could have been performed by men who really weren't thinking clearly.
Did you consider that? That gaol is no picnic.

"Does anyone feel sorry for the three suicides in Guantanamo?"
NO.
"For that matter, what happens to AMERICANS in foreign jails?"
Does it matter?
If you are arrested in a foreign country, you are subject to THEIR laws.
"And why would someone so useful think about suicide?"
What makes you think that any of those guys at Git'mo are useful?
Personally, we (as a nation) are doing a great disservice to our reputation when we've not brought these people to court.
Talk about due process.
Yes, we're at war...but there are still rules that we expect OTHERS to follow.
What makes us exclusive?
Bottom line for all criminal acts: if you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Yes i do, . we do not know who the people were or why they were in there or what they were accused of or what evidence there was against them. they were probably tortured and tormented and given no hope for a hearing or justice. that is depressing and justifies suicide. What if they were just innocent tourists in the wrong place at the wrong time? this is Un-American activities to treat humans this way.

They are not in prison because they didnt do anything wrong. The ones who got released didnt do ENOUGH wrong to be kept there longer. They were shooting at americans, planting bombs in baby carraiges, blowing up buses and video taping people getting their heads cut off. THEY ARE THERE BECAUSE THEY ARE BAD PEOPLE!!!! They just gave the police enough information to stop a 3 ton explosion from happening in canada, are you bleeding heart, liberal, pansie, long hair, jesus hatin, hippie, pinko, fags so dumb as to not know these are BAD PEOPLE!!! If you think they are so nice, hop on a plan, join them in prison... or wait for someone to kidnap you overseas and cut your head of for Allah!

As a mother of a Marine who was hurt in Iraq by a suicide bomber I think them a**holes are all bound to hell, they are cowards who are afraid to fight like real men.
Do I feel sorry for their souls hell no I don't, I just wish they would live after their coward acts so they can live like the people who got hurt by them.
As for prisoners of war; I feel our our military should treat the prisoners just the same way as they would treat us.
The name suicide bomber is to pleasant of a word to describe these people they should be known as PIG SCUM COWARDS

The whole reason they did it was for publicity, they are trying to win support for terrorist efforts, same with the IRA having hunger strikes, ect.

Yes, we don't even really know if they were guility of anything. They could easily have been innocent and just gave up hope of ever being released.
