I have a lot of experience with this problem, so you can email me for more discussion. It is likely to take a while--it's not generally a quick fix.

Do you have more than one cat? And, is your problem child spraying or just peeing? Spraying is something that both male and female cats (even fixed ones) can do--they back up to something and squirt, and it smells a lot worse than regular urine, and is very hard to get out of things.

Many cats that do this (pee on things), are most inclined to pee on soft things left on the floor--clothing, towels, gym bags--so first, pick those things up off the floor.

They also often pick on new things on the floor, especially ones that may have some kind of anxiety-association, like a suitcase near the front door, or something smelling of a person they have issues with. Again--off the floor.

If a cat pees on your bed, or on something on your bed, in my experience, that's a direct message that they are mad at you about something.

There's a product that looks promising to me: look for it at catfaeries.com.

Also: google "cat spraying"--lots of sources for info.

Good luck!

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

My boyfriend had a cat who did that too. He tried everything, but nothing worked for her. She would even pee on the bed if he didn't put down a large piece of plastic. He finally had to put her up for adoption as an outdoor cat only. She found a great home as a barn cat at a couples home, she's quite happy there. You might want to think about something similar where you could have visitation rights to your cat!
Good luck!

Try changing the litter you're using.

Also, sprinkling black pepper in the pee spots after cleaning them will keep your cat away. That's only a temporary solution, though.

Your cat may not like its litter...if you have a litter box cover on it, you may want to get rid of it or replace the vent.

If he isnt neutered get him done (or her) and also you dont say if it is an indoor only cat or an indoor/outdoor one.

If indoor, try changing the type of litter in the grit box. Dont use a perfumed one.

If outdoor/indoor, keep an eye on the signs thst he/she is getting ready to pee and out them outside.

If it is a male, he is almost certainly marking his territory and a definite candidate for neutering. I told my 2 that they could keep their nuts until on eof them peed on my furniture and I was true to my word, it took a year before the first squirt and 2 days later they werent talking to me anymore ;-)

is your cat male? if so, when they are not fixed the "spray" things around your home on purpose. you must have your cat fixed to alleviate this problem. if your cat is female, then she probably has a urinary tract infection, and associates the litter box with the pain. in that case you would need to go to the vet to get medicine

Are you using cleaners containing amonia? This makes kittie think it's ok to pee in these places.

Also, clean out youer litter and clean the box with mild soap and water, and how many litter boxes do you have, you want one box per cat plus one extra, just incase you can't clean it everyday.

Might want to call the vet, if a cat who normally uses the liter box stops, it usually means there is something wrong
