I think that most do. I know mine did, and my Doxie mix does. It is to get circulation going, so that they warm up. Chihuahuas are quite cold, so they do this to get warm. Some decide tat they just like to do it, and will run 8's whether they need to or not.

I have a Chihuahua/Terrier Mix, whenever I grab my keys or walk towards the front door she does the figure 8's, I think it is just an excitment thing...

Mine do not do a figure eight, but they do run at high speeds thru the house. It is called playing zoom doggy. It is so cute.

I have a pug that does the same exact thing, I think it must be all small dogs, maybe they do it for the attention since they are so little? just a thought.

Not mine. She is 3yrs. old and has never done that.

mine does it from time to time not sure why but it is cute when she does it.......
