I just bought a new laptop and desktop.
Loaded all of my software in laptop and when booting I get an error message.
Seems to come from missing HP files.
HP fix is to remove Paint and Reinstall.
Can't find Paint anywhere on Hard Drive.
It appears as program of choice to open up a JPG.
It is not in Ad/Remove Programs.
I never use it, so I won't miss it.
Error message is annoying.
What do I do?

Make sure you have the Windows CD before you attempt this. Im assuming you have XP.

Go to Control panel then click on Add/Remove Programs. Then on the left side there is an option for Add/Remove Windows Components. Click on Accessories and Utilities and then click on DETAILS. Then click on Accessories and then click on DETAILS again. Paint should be there. Uncheck it and remove it.

You can install it back again using the same option above, but you might need your CD.

Click start and then control panel. In the control panel select add or remove programs.
It will probably be under msworks which may mean you uninstalling msworks completely.
Failing that contact microsoft by email.

try '"search" from start menu. usually can search by file name or words in file title. if any are found, you should be able to delete one at a time until all are gone
