Nobody likes to be persecuted, do they? Of course, Christians don't like people persecuting their religion. That's not too hard to understand, I think.
Christians believe that they are sent with a message that will save people from death, and from hell. Many of them feel as if there isn't much time left, and that un-saved people are in serious danger. If you thought a child were in the way of a speeding train, wouldn't you try to save it? Maybe you would shove people out of the way to do it? Would you really care if their feelings got hurt, as long as you could rescue the child?
Yes, many Christians come off as being arrogant and over-bearing, and that is sad. Their "marching orders" (as given by their LEADER, Jesus Christ), don't include arrogance, indeed, Jesus commanded them to be humble. Go figure.
I am a Christian. I am very sad about the state of the world I see around me. I would like to rescue as many people as I can. Could you tell me how to do this without being an ***hole?

Well I can understand them not wanting to be persecuted. As for the hypocrisy, I have got that from some people too, whether they are Christians or something else. Some just think they are right and have a "God-given" right to tell everyone else they are wrong. They don't like other views but they don't want to accept that some people don't agree with them. All of this causes them to persecute. I know many don't but I don't understand how they think they can get into Heaven, or whatever they believe, if they are so horrible and judgemental.

Christians most of the time are not the one's persecuting other people's religion. Granted, during the middle ages the Catholic Church WAS corrupt and the crusades were just...wow, but many popes did things in the name of christ for their own benefit. However, Jews and Christinas are the most persecuted in the whole world. Atheists and Muslims do the most persecuting. Not being prejudice, it is just statistics. Take the holocaust for example. I have MANY friends that are atheists and jewish and muslim, and I respect their beliefs so in accordance I expect them to respect mine. Everybody has the right to their own beliefs, but not the right to take them out on other people's beliefs. Also, it is against the constitution!

I was told once, by a very fanatical young woman, that only they have the right to persecute others, because only they are God's Chosen and are the only Righteous people. Of course, I laughed at this one. Some turn the entire religion into hypocritical BS. Unfortunately, we have to put up with the bad in order to find the good.

Actually, Christians and Jews are the two most persecuted religions in the world. Muslim/Islam is the religion doing most of the persecuting. If you could consider atheism a religion...they are also major contributors to persecuting.
Bottom line is...nobody likes their religion or belief system challenged or persecuted.

Depends on your definition of persecuting. Of course Christians will think that other religions are wrong because there can only be one right way, so all religions believe all others are wrong (unless they are completely illogical). When they persecute by hurting others they are probably just scared.

I'm sorry to say that I am a persecuter and persecuted
I geuss everybody what's to say what they belive is right and make others believe it
And I am angerd when atheist say that there isn't a God when they could be angerd when I say there is
Everybody just wants everyone else to believe what they do
So I will stop saying atheist are stupid and stuff but I know if someone tried to get me to change my religion I know I wouldn't
So I have settled my fight with atheists and now I know I can't change what people believe if they all think the holy word is fake and religion isn't real
I'm made that they might go to hell but If someone told me if I didn't change to muslim I was gonna go to hell so I understand and I have come to respect other beliefs

For exactly the same reasons other religions don't like Christians persecuting them.
Unfortunately many times when a Christians just does what they are told to do in the bible, it is seen as persecution. No body likes getting there toes stepped on.

Since persecution is historically a fairly traumatic and violent form of social repression, as a general rule, those who are persecuted tend to respond unfavorably. Modern Christians, while they have a tendency to openly disparage, disdain and belittle those whose ideas differ from their own, lack the necessary organized zeal to effectively perscecute weaker religions in the divinely-inspired tradition of their forefathers. Today's business oriented church has discovered that ultra-violent repression in the name of an all-powerful, all-loving God is best left to the reigning secular government so the church's reputation can remain clean and the institution will remain financially viable.

I really don't know in light of the words our Saviour Yahushua the Messiah spoke:
Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
On the other hand we are required to:
1Peter 3:15 But set apart Elohim in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
3:16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Messiah.
Which might be interpreted as not liking people to persecute them for their religion!
