I could never figure out why people screw their insurance companies when they can. Well now I know. They are a bunch of ethic-less, principle-less bastards. So go for it, screw them when you can for all you can. You can be assured they will do it to you first wether you are honest or not.

I don't believe there is any real need for insurance of any type. It is unfortunate that these companies exist but they do because the majority of people, regardless of their instincts or intelligence are fearful.
Psychologically speaking, it's almost a crime to pray on peoples fear no matter how passive that 'praying' on people may appear. Insurance companies sell their products by pushing it even further and heighten these states of fear.
Perhaps the people that run these companies even believe in their own products at times but that doesn't make it any more ethically correct.
It exists and is also fuelled by more and more greed. Your fears are making someone extremely wealthy while you are getting screwed over.
So, all in all it's also down to the individuals that choose to 'roll with insurance'.
Many people try and beat the companies by putting in false claims that cannot be proven otherwise.
Now who is screwing who?
It really is a very stupid vicious circle, especially when you are throwing your money away on a future you ultimately cannot guarantee yourself.....
Just do yourself a favour and forget it even exists.

You're right they are I work for a Work Comp insurance company and let me tell you I feel sorry for some of these people that get injured espically the ones that have a ligitment claim/injury. They will do everything and anything to keep from paying on a claim until the state commission tells them they have to take the claim.

All insurance companies are the same though weather it's group health, auto, home, etc. It's all about what they can save it's the only way they can stay a float if they excepted all and every claim we wouldn't have insurance because they wouldn't have any money so as unfair as it may seem there are reasons behind what they do weather it seems ethical or not.

The real key behind Group Health and Workers' Comp is not going to the Dr. for every little ache and pain you have otherwise your really only hurting yourself because then everything becomes a pre-exsiting problem.

for the disgust of insurance company principles i didn't even want a car - i sold my z4 and remain on a group policy in the event i have to drive; i prefer to enjoy all the conveniences and lifestyle of walking. insurance was never a problem until i went on vacation and my premium was missed, i never received a late notice on top of address change errors in mail. Better know when your preiums are due, i couldn't understand how 30 days late dropped the policy i've had for 26 years! the big A dropped me and i got stuck with that over advertised (hint) driveng insurance company that DOUBLED my premium for a year. I feel insurance costs have caused me to revert to a past century of living without driving. Insurance companies don't want anyone who makes a claim or pays late or they'll drop them - what do you buy insurance for? well, take a look at the insurance company office buildings, and assets, CEO salary & bonuses, and maybe the profits, they must be able to cook the books and hide all that, too. i choose not to drive because i feel to small to tackle an insurance company for what is right and just like banks we're just chosen by them, not the other way around, not the way it used to be. Rich are richer, poor are really screwed, wave some money around and you can bank and be insured.

i used to work for an insurance company, and yes, i was very disappointed at times when they had to deny some of the claims, or when they forcibly slashed the amount payable. I tried my best to get the insured the best deal possible, but in the end, i just couldnt take it anymore... By the way, not only insurance companies are bastards, almost all the big companies and rich people are!!! They have no heart, they make money off the small people and then they will pretend to be good by making foundations and giving to chariity, when in fact it's only because they are tax-deductible!

It's because there is no accountability.

The problem is that the companies expect to make a profit off of EVERYONE. This is not how insurance is supposed to work.

The government should step in to provide non-profit insurance coverage. The reason being? They won't make 20 billion dollars a year and then raise rates on people.

HA HA, your "why are insurance companies such bastards" should be more of a statement than a question. Drug companies and insurance companies are both bastards.

Um, if you don't like insurance companies, then you keep your premium and take the risk for all the claims you'll have. Insurance companies are at risk, and in business to make money.

Why not explain why you are irritated & maybe all these helpful people can assist with a resolution to your apparent conundrum.

Apparently someone's claim didn't go in their favor. You know insurance companies often have ways to cover themselves in case a claim arises. They have laws they have to abide by. Now if they find that the claim is a just claim they will pay it. However, if they find old damage or unrepaired damage, or even find that the claim itself is unjust they will not pay it. The only thing you can do is contact a lawyer. The way insurance is worded it is usually found in favor of the insured in court. Just a heads up.
