could the combined forces of the entire world using conventional forces, NOT USING NUCLEAR WEAPONS, or any other WMD, take over the United States? In other words, could a world coalition have the capability to physically invade the United States successfully to the point of our surrender?

In my scenario, the US is NOT ALLOWED to use nukes, or WMD either....everyone only gets conventional weapons

HATE TO DISAGREE WITH EVERYONE ELSE...bUT THEY ARE WRONG IN ASSUMING THAT THE US WIOULD LOOSE AGAINST THE WORLD FOR ONE VERY GOOD REASON !!!
If the entire world's navies were combined, they MIGHT make a good show against the US's Atlantic Fleet. But then they would have to deal with the US Pacific Fleet and no combination of world power would allow them to do that. Oh, and let's not forget the Indian Ocean Fleet and the Med. Fleet.
With control of the worlds oceans we are left with only Mexico, Central America, Canada and South America to control at first and they wouldn't stand a chance.
With two continents under our control and with our Navy devastating world cities across the globe, how long till the rest of the world cries uncle?

If the entire world decided to gang up on us they could probably take us over. however, I really doubt that they would be able to impose some sort of new government on us that we didn't like. There are way too many individual gun owners who would be unhappy. Americans would have no problem fighting a gorilla style war. The United States are so geographically large that invading armies would be stretched to thin just trying to hold major cities, much less the thousands of miles of countryside. So to answer your question, I think that the rest of the world has enough firepower to invade, but not enough to sustain and win unconditional surrender.

If there was a way to get the "rest of the world" to act as a unified group (a stretch as much of the rest of the world "does not play well with others" in the same group) but assuming the above is true, then yes they could invade and occupy the country with a very large force and huge investment. I don't thing the return on investment would justify the cost in men, woman, material, effort. Not many in this county would be happy with the idea of living in an occupied country ruled by power across the oceans. After much blood shed, destruction of the infrastructure, famine, and such, yes they could beat us down. But then it would be up to Joe and Jane person who will act in or with a resistance movement (myself included) and it will be like Vietnam but on a much larger scale. I believe that its not cost effective for the rest of the world to launch such a historically huge effort as there would be little compensation for the first decade of time, as much of what is worth while would have been destroyed, lost or hidden as to make very little gain for way to much effort. Surrender from the centeral government, yes its would happen. Surrender from the average person, yes to your face, but no in action. Anybody remember the movie Red Dawn ?

I don't think a war of the World vs The United States would get to the point of our surrender.

It would take a massive coordinated effort to even pull off such an act since the US provides so much security around the world. Including protecting shipping lanes, helping train foriegn armies, the protection of security interests, and providing humanitarian relief.
Our Military is stationed around the world and can strike at any moments notice.

Also it would be economically disasterous for the world to turn against us. Even if they did win they would quickly turn on each other in the aftermath.

China population : 1.2 billion people
India Population: 1.0 billion people
Asia (South East, Japan and the rest in pacific) : over 700 million
US: 400 million

If using conventional weapon yes, an invasion can cause US to surrender, but the likelihood of US surrendering is depending what type of war it is.

Hitler replaced into going to save invading international locations until eventually he replaced into both stopped or actually everyone else surrendered. the in reality way out of it replaced into to provide up. If we did that, imagine about what would have got here about. Hitler killed 6+ million human beings in a decade in only area of a rustic. what number thousands of thousands and thousands would were killed if he had taken over the full international for 70+ years? Do you quite imagine he would have stopped with merely killing Jews? If we did not wrestle WW2 it would recommend we would all be residing lower than consistent concern for our lives and really everyone who wasn't blonde hair blue eyes will be lifeless by ability of now.

Sure they could conquer the U.S. by force. However, I don't think we'd surrender 1 inch of this soil. More likely, I think that if we were brought to our knees by the force that you suggest, we would rather destroy our own country than give it up (much the same way that the Russians did in the face of Napolean's army).

If you combine the resources of China, Russia, Britain and Austrailia effectively, yes but not with much ease.

They'd have a helluva time with the boys down south since we all own guns, know how to fire them and won't be walked over.
(that's why you leave the 2nd Amendment alone)

Well first off they would have to get here, and the US Navy would probably sink them first, and if they got here they would find it impossible to conquer us without killing everyone since we are one of the only countries in the world that allows it's citizens to own firearms.

we are one of about 10 countries with enough nukes to blow up the world. Our military is far superior, we would be able to get people to join the army to protect WORLD WIDE freedom. our nukes would easily get to anywhere in the world. we would be a very messed up country, but I beleive we might be able to stop it. especially since it would be hard to make a surprise atack of that magnitude.
