Depending on the industry where you are, and what airlines are available, it can take a long time to get hired on as a Flight Attendant. Training is usually 3 weeks unpaid and then the first year you are on call and go when they tell you to. Some airlines still stick to the appearance guidelines that you must fall under a certain weight in order to qualify. American carriers how ever do not anymore, but they still want weight perportionate to height. You also have to be tall enough to reach the over head bins with out assistance or use of a stool. Training can be intense at times and some people can not handle the part when they discuss emergency procedures, water evacuations and disaster protocal. So make sure you are mentally prepared for mock drills that involve being in the water, smoke filled cabins and any other disasters that could arise. Even though accidents are rare, they do happen. Many people go into the industry with the "it'll never happen to me" attitude, but being prepared is part of the job. A lot of trainee's do not make it through that portion of the course because it can be over whelming when you think about the reality of it.

Go to the airlines websites that you are interested in. If they are International Carriers, you have to have your passport readily available when you submit your application. They will do extensive back ground checks and this can take time. So, be patient once you apply.

Good Luck! Its a great job, but you just need to also realize being a flight attendant is more than just traveling and passing out snacks.
