I always buy them a huge tin of chocolates to share. Some people still tip them with cash though.

Well, I'm in the US and we tip our garbage men every Christmas. We also tip the pool guy and the mailman. All of these people work very hard all year for very little money. Christmas is the time of year when we should all be thankful and grateful for all we have and passing on a bit to someone else is always a kind thing to do.

Oh, yes.
My brother works as a refuse collector in the UK.
(I won't say where)
Over the course of one year the tips split among the team of 4 (Including Christmas) amounted to around £500, EACH.
