The best thing I have found to help a sore throat are Zinc lozenges. You can get them at a pharmacy over the counter.

Friends or not, you should be getting the child support thru the courts. It may so happen that he owes you MORE than 400 per month, which would mean your child is not being supported as fully as possible. It is great that he does pay you, however, you are losing out on health benefits because of your "off the books" arrangement. That isn't good for you or your child.

If you both have sore throats, it is either viral; strep; or sinus drainage.

If viral, it should clear up on its own. Take ibuprophen or tylenol for pain and fever.

If it is strep, you may see red streaking and white pustules on your throat (you may not). You should really have an antibiotic for strep. Look for a free clinic in your area to get a prescription.

If you suspect sinus drainage from allergies, try Claritin -- it is an over the counter antihistimine and will clear up sinus drainage which can be a cause of long term sore throats.

I hope this helps. You do need to find a way to obtain insurance or access to a free clinic because if left untreated, Strep throat can progress to rheumatic fever and effect the heart.

Bring your daughter to the doctor if sh has insurance it's ok to take her. That sucks you can't go but at least get her in there. I haven't had medical in years due to the same situation. I now have over 60 thousand in medical bills from surgerys I had to have. What I'm trying to say is either try to find a job that you can get insurance or tell your ex your sorry but you have to go to court. Sometimes you can set up an amount you both agree on. My girlfriend did and got 1,500 not bad when the girl was 16 years old could of been alot more. Hopefully nothing happens to you but it could then what would you do

Gargling with a mixture of 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon of vinegar in about 3 ounces of water will take away the soreness. It's not pleasant but then neither is being sick.

The sore throat is only a symptom of something worse, like strep throat or haemolytic flu. Since you and your daughter are both sick it is likely contagious. You should definitely consult a doctor.

Why would you need to sue for child support if he already gives it to you? Maybe they need to see it "on paper".

About the sore throat, try hot tea with honey and wait it out. If it gets severe, it might be serious though and she should see a doctor. You can always try one of those walk in immediate care places too.

where do you live? im not trying to find you. hahaha. what im trying to say is that it depends on where you live and how your air is inside your home. im in phoenix and even with the a/c on all night, when i wake up in the morning i always have a dry feeling in my throat. and im sure from there if you dont take care of it it will become a soar throat. you might want to make your air in your house cleaner and fresher. change the vents and also put a large bowl or glass of water next to you and your daughter at night. it helps attract the dust to the water and not in your throat.

First of all make sure you drink plenty of liquids and also Tylenol Sore Throat works really well. It is in liquid form in a Blue and Yellow box I think, if I remember correctly. Ya'll can find it at any convience store and pharmacy.

Remember to drink as much fluids as possible.

Drink hot tea with some honey that always helps me, also you can use some cough drops. If it doesn't go away after about a week I would go to the doctor, I know it is costly but sometimes you have to scrap. At least go for your daughter. Hope you feel better.

Try lemon tea. Get some fresh lemons and boil them in water to make the tea. Sweeten with honey or sugar. I think it's great that you and your child's father get along so well. The state should give you a medical card anyway. Challenge that!
