You are never to old to pursue your dreams. I thinks its awesome that you want to help people. Even if you don't have the financial resources to pay for college, you may qualify for financial aid. I say go for it! Nurses are some of the coolest people in the world (my mom has been a nurse for about 30 years, and she had to work her way through with no financial assistance, so it is possible). Best of luck!

If you can go to school full time you can complete an R.N. program in two years at a local community college, but it will be hard because in addition to nursing courses you will be taking electives also.An L.P.N. program would require less time and less work. The pay difference isn't that much between the two and R.N.'s are basically resented by L.P.N.'s I know I have been both.I would suggest do the L.P.N.first but I want to warn you, nursing is not what it used to be.Alot of paper work, short staffed, terrible hours, holiday work, rude patients, back breaking work, arrogant docs, potential for being sued is great. Why not take a two year course in physical therapy assistant, they make as much as R.N.'s and they have consistent patient contact one on one and you can give alot of compassion and care especially if you chose to work in a nursing home in the rehab depart. There is a great demand for them at this time.Sorry I can't be more supportive of pursuing nursing.Hon why do you think their is a shortage.

because that human beings our age (i'm 40-one) won't ever get social protection and would could paintings until eventually the day we die (except we hit the lottery, i visit desire), NO way is 40 too previous for some thing. 40 is youthful and also you've were given better paintings time beforehand of you, then you absolutely have had in the back of you. (Assuming you began paintings at 16-18 years previous, you've in reality been operating 20 or so years, we merely isn't in a position to entice social protection until eventually we are in our 80s, if in any respect). bypass for it! merely comprehend that the medical "scarcity" is instantly transforming into a bogus element, similar to tech jobs. There are not any shortages and many medical jobs are being laid off or more cost-effective operating foreigners presented in. reliable success

My wife is a nurse. She started out as a c.n.a..She went back to school and became a l.p.n. and has never regreted it. Our son s fiance is going to college this fall to become a l.p.n.,The class only takes a year,so if you got into it now you d be only 41 when you complete it.Its not easy but very worth while. And you d never have trouble getting work. I hope this helped.

No your not to old. Usually the RN program is two year, so it would take maybe 3-4 years to get everything you needed.
