Birds choose where they make their nest based on safety for their babies. So just watch the miracle of birth, and the cycle of life. Better than TV! Maybe put up a sheer or lace curtain, so that you can still see through it, but your movements won't startle them. And if you ever think the nest or babies have been abandoned, do not disturb it. Contrary to popular opinion, birds don't smell, so they won't detect your odor on the nest or the babies. But they do see very well, and if they see anyone bothering their nest or babies, they may not come back. If you ever find a baby on the ground, leave it there. The mom will tend to it, if it's not sick. If it's sick, nothing you can do will save it. Sometimes ill chicks are pushed out of the nest. Sometimes they fall out. It's also part of the cycle of life for the bird, where only the strong survive. You may already know about all of this, but many on this site do not. I thought this would be a good time to educate those who don't know. Hope all in your nest (and in your home) do very well. <*)))><

If they put the nest there, they have to be used to the daily occurrences in order to find their nesting spot comfortable. They will be okay as long as you do not approach the nest. You are a predator, after all. You can look, but keep a decent distance between you and the nest, and don't touch it.

It is an old wives tale that they don't like our scent (if this was the case, they would not be any where we live- come one, we stink pretty bad :) and they do have an under-developed sense of smell), but they do perceive us as a threat- we DO eat eggs, and they know it, so they may abandon the nest with the preconceived notion that you will eat their young.

Well, if you been there before when the Robins were at the nest, they shouldn't mind, but they do keep a CLOSE eye on you from a distance (other birds sometimes) if your near the nest. I have seen a Robin attack a cat that was being nosy. Just don't try anything or they may attack. I was chased by several squirrels when I was a kid for looking up the wrong tree. Just be careful around the bush and enjoy their company.

Talking don't usually scare them, but being loud does.

No, they don't know where you eat dinner. If you talk it may scare them away, but that is the way of life. If the birds put their nest in a bad spot, they'll move it the next time. I think the reason they aren't coming back is that it is a little late in the season for that. We have a tree with a robin's nest in it and the babies are already out and begging for food.

properly, if there replaced into only one egg, the robin would frequently don't have any reason again to the nest until eventually day after today morning at the same time as she will be laying the subsequent egg. So in a pair of days verify the nest for better eggs. it will be notably unusual for a fowl Robin to incubate only one egg.

That's more of a coment rather than a question. I am glad you found the nest, but make sure you leave them alone,or they might leave. Buy a birdhouse and some bird seeds, and a bird feeder, and you can expect robins all year round.

Good luck with your new birdie friends

Go about your business, just don't stand around the nest or touch it. View them from a window, behind a curtain, don't be obvious and scare them. No, you can talk.

No, it won't scare them away unless you try to get very close. For the momma bird to come and feed her babies though you must stay still until she is in the nest with them. :)

well they will get used to your voice, im sure. And we have a pair of yellow birds in our GARAGE. It so weird....they fly out when we open the door, and we leave it open a crack so they can walk in whenever. But they have a nest on top of the garage door machine thingy near the ceiling.

they will be fine... it takes really close contact for a momma bird to be scared away.

We had a nest 1.5 feet away from our front door and the mother never neglected her babies.
