They used to have sugar, and they tasted a whole lot better.

Definitely the cost. But, why can't they market Coke and Pepsi with sugar, but, at the higher price? I would buy it. Wonder if anyone ever suggested that to them. I am sure millions of people would pay extra for that "original taste"

Although sugar does create a better taste, the fact is that fructose corn syrup actually costs less so they can produce the drink cheaper and make more profit.

Cost actually. Sugar costs more. Hmmm... is corn syrup fructose? Never bothered to look. Oh yeah, just checked, you are right. Anyway, cost is the reason.

Price - high fructose corn syrup is much cheaper and easier to transport. The fact that it is not good for you is immaterial.

Because its alot cheaper.
It seems its alot unhealthier than regular sugar though too. In other countries though Coke and Pepsi are still made with sugar. (And in my opinion tastes better)

well its cheaper and fructose has natural sugars in it any thinc that ends in ose has sugar in it like gluclose
