The French have never really been friendly to the U.S>
They gave us the Statue of Liberty, with the words, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..."
They knew the only way for the United Staes to be destroyed, was for it to destroy itself. Therefore, they knew we would embrace the Statue of Liberty, and they also knew that immigrants would come here illegally, which would lead to the destruction of the United States.

The French-Indian War, was not the French fighting the Indians. The French joined the Indians in fighting Americans, in the hopes of gaining American territory for France. France has always been a pain in the side of the U.S. Yes, the Statue of Liberty was a trick.

back to basics; the Statue of Liberty was a 100th birthday present from the French to the Americans. France was going to donate the statue and America the pedestal. Americans had a Little problem raising the cash and the Statue wasn't dedicated until October 28 1886 -oops! The immigrants that came here landed across the way from the statue at a place called ellis island and they landed legally. So no Dude the Staue is not a Trojan horse it was never filled with pastry chefs and sauciers. Sorry

The statue of liberty was a gift from France and not a Trojan House. Also France did help the United States while the US was at war with England during the year 1775 (Revolution War)

The French helped us in the Am. Revolution. Without their help we might still be a British colony. It is our own fault that illegals are coming in and receiving amnesty. We have laws that are not being enforced because big businesses want cheap labor. It has nothing to do with the Statue of Liberty or France. What a ridiculous idea.

The our Alians with France has been on and off They were there to Help our "Allies" during the American Revolutionary War.But they have never stayed head to head with us they always buckle back down.
They gave us the Statue in good faith for the help the United States did for them. Face it if it were not for the U.S. the would be speaking German we Liberated them.
But as for the illegal immigrants being here that is our fault we have the laws on the books we should be enforcing them. There is no way France in the 19th Century were thinking of 20 million Illegal Mexican when they gave us the statue.
Or maybe it was and it just proved how smart they are.
They forgot to get in.

As I recall, the Trojan Horse had troops hiding inside it when the City of Troy was attacked. Are there immigrants hiding in the Statue of Liberty? Maybe that is why the extream part of her is off limits to the public.

Well, everyone always throws it in our faces that the statue of liberty says that. That is one thing that has always bothered me.
But times have also changed. At one time, people that came here looking for a better life were willing to work for it and follow the rules of the country they came to on their own. Today, people from certain places come here for a better life, and expect it to be handed to them, and think they should not have to follow the rules of the country they made the decision to come to.

No, the French people really believed in the US as a place of refuge and liberty at that time. On the other hand, I think they were thankful that people were heading for the USA rather than for France.

The French fleet and army were instrumental to the US success in the American Revolution. Just as we were essential to their liberation from Nazi Germany. So your premise that France has never been friendly to thee US is false. In addition, I doubt that 19th century France had the foresight to give us a statue to entice waves of immigrants that would overcome our infrastructure a hundred years later. That is what you are implying, no?
