Use the normal amounts... you'll just have more room.

If your good at math than you just use ratios. For example of you need 1 cup of onions in a 3.5 quart container than you use a little more than 1 and 2/3 cups of onions for a 6 quart crock pot. This helps when you need to make a recipe smaller or bigger. ONE EXCEPTION. Dont use this method for baking. Baking is very precise and if you do that the recipe wont come out the same.

As long as whatever you're cooking starts off covered by water, it doesn't matter how big the crockpot is. For example, if you're cooking a 4 lb. pot roast with all the usual veggies, you have to make certain that the whole thing has a little bit of water covering it at it's top.

I wouldn't. Despite what male chefs say, size doesn't matter. They used that size pot in the recipe because that's what it fit into. If you add more liquid, you will just end up with a runnier recipe.

you can use whatever size you want but don't add more water unless you double up on all the other ingredients
