He is 4 years old and neutered. He wants to go outside very badly and we started taking him out on a leash but he marked by the door every time we brought him in so we stopped taking him out. Now when we don't let him out he pees in the same spot. I have heard cat's aren't "sneaky" or "vindictive" but I know he is doing it because he's ticked off. Help!

We have tried Feliway, doesn't seem to do a darn thing... I actually think we're going to have to replace the carpet now.

He probably caught the scent of another cat while outside so he is marking his territory, and he my be spraying and not urinating. Also if the product you are usuing to clean up after him cintains ammonia, then you ae just encourageing this activity.
Here's a simple home remedy. Cats hate HATE the smell of Cilantro/Corriander, get some and grind it up mix with a little water and dap the area when kittie pees in it. This will make him not want to use it there agian. Also clean out your litter box and while it is empty wash it with a mild soap and detergent this will make the box smell new, also I suggest a second litter box near the door, and open a window when you are home and let him look outside. He may have really enjoyed it outdoors, and now that he's inside he's bored.

Felloway Spray or Diffuser (diffuser approx £27) from the vets is supposed to work for this sort of thing. Basically the cat is marking its territory and is making sure that no other cat is going to cross its threshold. Try putting its food dish there for a while 'cos a cat will not urinate where its food is. Also try orange oil as cats hate the smell of it. Clean the area with white spirit as this removes the cats scent and this may also help. Good luck

dont worry my cat was cutee, cuddly and loved cuddles and being pushed in doll prams, UNTIL,... we got a new kitten, she felt betrayed and left out of everything.. When she found out some other kitten would try and take her place, she turned all vishious on us and she is only starting to come around and get over it now.., she started pissing every where, still does, infact she taught the little kitten to as well.. GOD!! well any ways there only started to stop lately, but they still occasionally **** & piss on the carpett, mums getting the carpet replaced now cause cat piss seriously stains carpets.. we've tryed sprays and EVERYTHING, nothing acctuly removed the overall ouder.. hope i'v helped.. Try putting several news papers and litter boxes in the places they are uranating.. you can buy a plant that when they sniff it it makes them calm and happy, and this is suppose to help.. talk to your local plant centre or vett i spose?? cause i need to be voted best answer for 10 ponts, x :)

Our cat did that too. I bought another litter box and put it next to the old one. He pees in the new one and poops in the old one. I worked for me.

Rub his nose in it - he will not do it again. My cat did the same thing. It worked like a charm.

Punishing him for doing it will only associate him to urinating is bad. Give him props when he does his duty where he is suppose too.
