I was wondering what breed of dog is best for playing catch with a frisbee? I'd want them to be trainable too so I wouldn't have to chase them around the park if there was another dog or something happened, etc.

Whippets hold the records, border collies are close behind. My German shepherd was fantastic.
One celebrity performing on animal planet these days is an Astralian Shepherd.

Dogs from the herding group such as border collies, Australian shepherds, Jack Russell Terriers. These are all dogs that I have seen do the best with playing frisbee or in agaility. I have a blue heeler mix that loves to play frisbee. I am too old and sick tho to get out there and play with her every day.

I'd go with a Lab unless you want acrobatic midair grabs. Labs are a bit heavy to do that kind of thing long term. I've owned labs that would happily play fetch until they died of exhaustion, but at the same time were very mellow.

Border collies are great frisbee dogs. They have tons of energy so you will have to play with them everyday and they are very smart. Plus they aren't overly large either.

Border Collie.
But training is key. It's a very time consuming process that requires a great deal of patience. If you have little of either, don't even try.

My experience is that retrievers do this the best (hence the name). I have a lab mix who can catch a ball, etc... I've also seen Parson Terriers train well, but would recommend the labs.

A golden retriever. This breed is very easy to train and are very good at learning tricks.
