college educated, etc. lives in an apartment. The apartment complex is in a o.k part of town but nothing great. I would think that a single man in his other years who claims to make good money would have a house or at least live in a high priced apartment. Does it sound like he is lying about his income?

I am 40 and he is 52 so he isn't that old for me. It's not about being after his money it is just a matter of guys lying about how much money they make. If a guy doens't want his earnings to be an issue, why do they exagerate on how much they make? I just think that is a guy say he make a certain amount he should be telling the truth. It is kinda like a woman saying she is height weight proportionate and she is really obese. Guys hate it when a woman lies about her weight but they lie about their earnings. Why can't THey be honest?

Our state doesn't have alimony so he isn't payin that and he has been divorced for about 10 years anyway. His apartment rent couldn't be more that 900 if he rents a 3 bedroom which I doubt he does. A one bedroom there goes for 750 so thats no luxury living and I've seen the apartments before when i was with someone making newspaper bill collection and it ain't anything fancy at all.

$75K sounds like a lot, but the government takes a third of it before he sees any of it. That leaves $50,000 per year; his rents are probably $12,000 to $24,000 per year if you include condo fees, and maybe even more. If he's smart he's also saving extra for retirement. So now he's down to maybe $20,000 per year, and then there's all kinds of living expenses. Plus perhaps alimony. Ain't so much any more, is it?

I guess I fit the description almost to a tee, except that I live in an RV. I drive a 10+ year old car, and don't owe anyone a dime, and pay cash for everything.
Why, do I live like that? It's because I quit trying to impress, or please others, some years ago. I live like "I" want to, not how some one else thinks I should. A fancy house or car is just a nuisance, and alot of extra expense, that would only be to impress someone else. I only work 6 months a year and spend the rest of the time traveling, on hobbies, and doing what "I" want to do.
I value skills and abilities, not possessions that can be taken away if you miss a payment. I can captain a ship, overhaul a car, build a house, operate heavy equipment, do machine work and welding, fly an airplane, build a computer, drive a truck, and a number of other skills. Those can't be taken away, and with those skills, I can get any of the material possessions that most people seem to value. I just don't value them.
It all boils down to the fact that I "found myself" some years ago, and I'm happy with what I found. The only person I need to impress, is myself, and the guy who signs my paycheck.

If you are interested in him I would ask him where he works, how long he's been with the company, you know all the write questions we need to know the answers to. If he's reluctant to giving you answers, then I would be cautious. Good luck though.
