I am looking for starfish or coral to accent my living room for the summer. (Going for a nautical theme). I have checked around but the only place I have found so far is Pottery Barn and I refuse to pay $30 for a piece of coral!

A little girl was walking on a beach after a stormthat was litered with starfish that were thrown onto the beach. She was picking up the starfish and throwing them back into the sea. A man saw her doing this and told her she couldn't possibly save all the starfish and it wouldn't make a difference. She smiled at him, picked up a starfish and gently tossed it into the water, "To that one I did"

Starfish are alive. If you pick one up from th beach and take it home, it'll really smell bad. You'll be sorry. And coral is alive and some is endangered. It's illegal to have certain types of coral. Also, when dried and cured, starfish and coral are very fragile, you're better off (and your living room will smell better) if you get sculptures and art work.

Starfish and coral are not "items", they are animals. The gathering of coral for sale is illegal in many nations these days. Starfish can be had on-line, if you want to hang the corpses on your wall.
Personally, I prefer a nice watercolor.

eBay !!!!! I buy and sell a lot of my household decorations there. I haven't ever had any nautical things...but everything is on eBay. You can find great deals !!! I sold a wall hanging that I bought from Pier 1 for $35 new for only $6. It was only used for about 6 months then we got tired of it. Just make sure they aren't trying to rip you off with shipping. Good Luck!!!

If you got Big Lots or Ross, TJ Max, they got a lot of cheap stuff in the back of the store for your house. Also try ebay.

Usually souvenir shops by beaches have a bunch of this stuff, but I gather you don't live near a beach. Try looking online somewhere like www.nautical-gifts.net or www.seaside-treasures.com.

Head over to http://www.craigslist.org or http://www.postaroo.com and post a free ad telling folks what you want. You can also browse for items like these.

Good luck! - Stuart

Go to TJ Maxx/Home Goods. They have a lot of that stuff at better prices.

You might want to start with the ocean or beach.
