I believe there is a difference in Spirituality and Religion. Religion is a form of Spirituality. Not the other way around.

I wouldn't necessarily say so, I'm not super religious or spiritual, and definitely wouldn't consider myself egocentric or egotistical. However, I do know some people who are religious or spiritual and they're not really people I'd like to surround myself w/, w/ their "holier than thou" attitude.

Religion is form of fund-raising for purposes that have little to do with devotion to a deity. Spirituality is about one's focus on devotion, by definition.
While there are, no doubt, spiritual religious people and I have even met some religious spiritual people, the question is not about attitude or affiliation, but how and if they relate to their god.

Religion is about rites and ritual whereas spiritualy is more about self, there are three levels of human thinking the outermost level is the IQ, the second is the EQ, and the innermost is the SQ - people who tend to think from the IQ are every egotistical because they try to derive too much logic out of everything, people who think with EQ generally analyse the situation and the take action, people who think with SQ, understand eveything deeply and consciously.

i think they're more realistic.
humility is good like all things, in measure.
like i will tell you that i think i'm smart and a good cook. i think these are facts. but i will also give you the shirt off my back if you need it.
ego means you ignore the needs of others, and that's not necessarily true of non spiritual people.
lack of humility and egocentricity are two different things, and you can't always group one with the other.

A religious man goes to church, and sits
impatiently and day dreaming of fishing. A spiritual
man goes fishing, and day dreams of God. Religion runs
on guilt, fear, sin and is mind driven. Spiritualism
runs on truth, peace, and joy, and is Heart driven.
Spiritualism is a life style religion is a learned
from a book and folk lore you're born spiritual!!!!

all i know, organized religion aside, is if you truly follow Christ, (open to Him spiritually and believe in
HIS truth), being egotistical is no longer an option.

for the record however, i havent met many selfless non spiritual people. seems if its not about God, it is a lot more about ME, how could it not be?

there is a difference however in self absorption and self admiration.
