I work in the medical field, and I can say this; seizures happen for a reason. Now, saying that there are many different types of seizures and many different reasons for having one. Your cousin may have had an infection, or fever. This is not to say that she has a seizure disorder, she will probably never have one again if she has no previous medical problems. The electrical circuits in the brain are very complex and still not fully understood. I would not worry if this was an isolated event and your cousin is healthy and developing normally.

Encourage this child's parents to take her back to the doctor!!!!!!! She may have an infection that is causing her to have a fever that is spiking. The same thing happened to my little brother.... what we later found out is that (everyone) has a "boiling point", which means that once the body reaches a certain temperature, it shuts down, causing a seizure. There may not be anything wrong with her, but you can NEVER take chances! This little girl should have blood work done, and possibly an MRI/CAT scan... if the parents are not satisfied with the results, get a second opinion! Good Luck!

When my husband was little, he used to have seizures when he had really high temperatures. The doctors said that it was his bodys way of 'shutting' down and cooling itself off. Luckily, there were never any serious affects from this. The key is to keep a close eye on when this is happening and always get into the doctor.

I would get a second opinion on that one, if I were you. My cousin was told that about his son, and when they went to another doctor, It was found out that the child had epilepsy. High fever can also cause seizures. I would definitely get another doctor's opinion on the matter. They should have run a thorough battery of tests on the girl before declaring her healthy.

There are many types of seizures and all of them are caused by irregualr brain wave patterns. There is always a reason why they occur. Sometimes heredity is involved, or an injury could have occurred durring the birthing process or afterwards that you may not be aware of. This is a serious matter and should be thoroughly check out by neurologist.

No. Thats not common. My sister is 22 years old and has seizures. If the doctor says nothing is wrong, take her somewhere else. If you do nothing about this issue, it will just get worse. I swear. Get her taken care of immediately even if you have to visit multiple doctors. Just make sure you do whatever you have to do for her when shes young. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I haven't had any experience with anything like this, but seizures are never a good thing. She and her parents should definitely see a doctor about it. She may have some undiagnosed disease/disorder.

Not normal. Get another doctor, quick. You need to find a Pediatrician that specializes in neurological problems I believe.
The child could be an epileptic and that needs to be monitored. Or it could be something else that would require medical attention; brain tumor, major allergic reaction, etc.
