That would be around lakes? Anyone been camping lately? We are thinking of doing this but not sure where we would have the most fun..... Important factor,, our two children ages 8 and 6..... Ideas please........

The most amazing place in Central California is Yosemite National Park. Here is their camping website:

Yosemite is awesome. Huge waterfalls, giant rock formations, redwood forests. Your kids will love it.

I don't know exactly where this is in relation to where you are but there is a place called Camp Pi Pi. It is about 4000' up in Amador county off of highway 88.
This may be too far from where you live but there is a small river that runs through there along with large open fields of wild flowers and hiking trails that the kids would enjoy.
