We have oil especially in the protected parts of Alaska, upon which we at this time can not drill for the wildlife. We have oil all over, but it is very deep and takes alot of money to find and drill that far down. That is why so many wells were capped back when oil was at 25.00 a barrel. We could not afford to sell it for that when it was costing more to drill. There are wells now being pumped but not that much. It is actually cheaper to buy oil from other countries. Our reserves however are nothing like in other countries and would eventually run out.

Ever heard of the Alaskan pipeline? The thing is, Bush is putting most of the oil we get from Alaska into special reserves so we'll have some if we really need it. And we have plenty of shale oil in the Northern states, that is now going to be used to fuel cars. And I think these high gas prices are just a blessing in disguise. I've found myself walking and biking more places now, and I think AMerica as a whole will benefit from it by excercising more

ok, sure...whatever. Anyhow we have lots of oil...but the enviro-commies from the EPA will not allow us to drill for it in the offshore areas or in ANWR (Artic National Wildlife Reserve). All because the Caribou walk though the area once a year on the annual mating walk through the tundra...
Fact is that is would be very beneficial to drill up there for most of the year and shut it down during the mirgation of the caribou...they would'nt even know we were there...90% of the time is a large area of nothing-ness covered in snow...

America produces approximately 10% of it's own oil. Most of it coming from Alaska. The majority of oil produced locally is stored in the strategic oil reserves rather than being processed and used.

Nonsense!!! We have plenty of oil, if we could just overcome the liberal blockheads who stand in the way of drilling it.
Actually, though, a better idea would be to use alternatives to oil, which have already been proven to bring prices down in places like Brazil, where oil has been completely replaced with fuel made from sugar cane stalks.

No America started the Oil industry, We have billions of gallons and thousands of wells but because our oil cost more to produce (labor prices) it's cheaper to buy it from the other countries. so in the mean time our Wells set caped and are ready to be opened when the others run out...

We import the vast majority of our oil from Canada and Mexico. Only a small percentage from the Middle East.
In 5 years when the Colorado Shale project takes off, WE will become the world's largest exporter of oil. (2.5 TRILLION BARRELS of oil in the Colorado Shales!)

This problem has two faces, first Bush had high unemployment rate, so he send our men there either they will be killed or get Cheap OIL, either way he is a winner, Second, Oil companies wants ME countries to be under their control so they send our men to fight for them, Just remember the opium war in China

we have some oil, though not nearly enough to sustain our need for any length of time at all. There is talk of drilling in the Artic National Park, but there really is no point since again, it won't really do enough for us to make it worth the cost financially and to nature.

No that is not true. There is oil all over America. Bush would just rather go and destroy Iraq than drill here.
