Sounds like a friend to me, but perhaps your right and he is just shy. Feel him out for a litte while longer; if you don't feel any vibes from him, then I would let it go.

It depends in what mood or context he says it. He might be just joking and being funny. Or if you have dated only for a short period of time-he may not be ready to admit ot anything serious verbally.

why would he send you a picture if he didn't like you? what would you expect him to put? your lover, bob?
if you like him, tell him. no sense in agonizing over it. when you start assuming things in your head and trying to figure out what he's thinking, that's when you start assuming all the wrong things. just be up front and be prepared if he doesn't tell you what you want to hear.

He is also thinking of you as a friend too. Not that he doesn't love you, but he does. He also likes you as a friend. Me and my boyfriends that I have ever had been friends even while we were dating.
